With keto diet how much weight can you lose in a week?

When people follow a diet, any diet, they mostly want to lose weight. Over the years, the keto diet has become very popular. If you already follow it, or want to get it soon, fitness expert Mukul Nagpal, (founder of Pmf training and Fit India Movement Ambassador) says you can lose up to 20 kg in 6 months on this diet plan, “which is healthy”.

"The main thing is, it depends on your current weight, lifestyle, activity, etc., which determines the exact number that will change even if you compare it to others," he says.

The expert breaks it down for you; to read.

  First week of keto diet

Initially, it is normal to lose 2 to 3 kilos in the first week of the ketogenic diet, as this can suppress appetite. This is often referred to as a low-carb high-fat diet. One of the basic principles is that you are restricting the number of carbohydrates so that your body stores more fat than glucose. This means, when you start the keto diet, you may feel tired and even have a mild headache, which is called the 'keto flu'.

The first month of keto diet

By this time, you will begin to feel the effects of the keto diet. Water weight loss is followed by fat loss. You may be losing inches off your waist but the numbers on the scale aren't going down.

It is important to remember that a simple weighing scale does not paint an accurate picture of fat loss. You can gain muscle at the same time, which is a good thing, especially if you're lifting weights. Measure your body fat percentage instead.

When eating a ketogenic diet for fitness, it's important to be aware of the signs that your body is adjusting to dietary changes. This can stall your weight loss results and even increase your calorie intake by replacing high-carb snacks with high-fat foods that don't fill you up the same way.

Keto diet: three months later

As long as you continue, you should be able to lose 10 kg in three months and achieve long-term weight loss. Of course, this can vary per person. Check your physical activity,  habits, stress levels etc.

"If you have a medical problem, it is recommended to consult your physician before starting a keto diet,"
